BREAKING: Pastor Plans to Use Pokémon GO for Evangelism
About 8:20 this evening, my wife and I were taking our daily 30-minute walk around the church property when we noticed a car drive into the church parking lot. The car had Oregon plates, so I thought he might be looking for some place nearby.
I approached the man driving and asked, “May I help you?”
“Oh, my son is playing Pokemon GO, and we thought a creature was in your church sign. It turns out it’s on that building across the street,” pointing to Big Springs Elementary School.
So we all laughed and they drove on.
Just like that, I thought this would be a great evangelistic tool! We can invite people to play the game in our church grounds, and the landmarks will be littered with Bible verses such as,
“God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life,” or
“Choose this day to serve God,” or
“The Savior is waiting to enter your heart” or
“Have a personal relationship with Jesus and you will be saved.”
Suggestions for other verses are welcome.
Before they finish their game, I’ll invite them first to say the Sinner’s Prayer, and presto! They’re saved!
